Abstract: Nonlinear unsteady wave processes are investigated for the motion of circular cylinders near a free surface and the interface of a two-layer fluid. The original formulations of the problems are reduced to equivalent boundary integro-differential equations. Asymptotic solutions are constructed that describe the initial and transient stages of the wave process under free and forced accelerated motion of a cylinder from rest, as well as for a tandem of cylinders located in different layers. The unsteady hydrodynamic loads acting on a cylinder located near the free surface or the interface of a two-layer fluid are determined.
